Salah

S
Salah – The Arabic term for the Islamic prayer of worship. It is regarded as the second of the five pillars of Islam, where adult Muslims should pray five times a day.  This is different to dua, the Arabic word for supplication made by Muslims to God, often by raising their hands, and which often happens at the end of the Salah.  Context is important, as it may be necessary to distinguish how Muslims pray in a specific instance, either through the ritual prayer, through supplication or potentially both.  See also the other pillars of Islam – Shadahah, Zakat, Sawm and Hajj. Also see dua.
