Haqqani Network – A militant Afghan group based in Pakistan that is using asymmetric warfare to fight against US-led NATO forces and the government of Afghanistan. In the 1980s, the Haqqani network was one of the most favoured CIA-funded anti-Soviet mujahideen groups. In 2012, the US designated the Haqqani network as a terrorist organization and in 2015, Pakistan officially banned the group.
