dua – The Arabic term for a supplication (also in plural form) made by Muslims to God, often by raising their hands. This is different to Salat, which is usually referred to as the ritual five daily prayers performed by Muslims, which is the second of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims may make dua at the end of their Salah. Context is important, as it may be necessary to distinguish how Muslims pray in a specific instance, either through the ritual prayer, through supplication or potentially both. See also Salat.
